Dental hygienists usually work in private dental offices or clinics. Therefore, dental hygienists may experience major differences from one office to another. This gives hygienists the flexibility to find one or more offices of their liking to work in. In addition, there are opportunities to be employed in alternative settings such as hospitals, community health programs or public health institutions such as the Indian Health Service, and with minimal required coursework, graduates can go on to both public and private institutions and seek jobs in education.
Dental Hygiene students also have the opportunity to continue their studies and transfer to earn M.S. degrees for a career in education.
