What is the CalVet Fee Waiver?
The CalVet College Fee Waiver is a benefit that waives tuition fees at any California community college, California State University, or University of California campus. Usually, only spouses or children of veterans that are 100% disabled or are missing in action are eligible. For full eligibility information, visit the CalVet website.
Using the CalVet Fee Waiver
- Program application and approval: Download the application found on the CalVet website and submit it to your County Veteran Services Office each academic year you plan to use the waiver.
- Letter of Eligibility: Issued by a County Veteran Services Office if the student is approved to use the CalVet Fee Waiver program. The letter is good for one academic year.
- Provide Letter of Eligibility to Financial Aid Office: The program eligibility letter must be submitted to the California community college or university Financial Aid Office. Email a copy to gsanchezbill@vcccd.edu.
What Fees are Waived?
Students will have the cost of tuition waived. All students will be responsible for the college services fee, health fee, and if desired, parking permit fees.
