About Program

Welcome to Oxnard College's exciting new Logistics Career Education Program! Our program is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the fast-paced and ever-evolving logistics industry. This program was created through a collaboration with the Navy, Port of Hueneme, and leading logistics experts, ensuring a curriculum that meets the highest industry standards.

Program Goals and Objectives

Our Logistics program aims to:

  1. Prepare you for employment opportunities at our partner locations, including the Navy and Port of Hueneme, as well as other logistics-related positions.
  2. Enhance your skills and increase your value as an employee, making you a competitive candidate in the job market.
  3. Provide current employees with a solid foundation for career advancement and promotion opportunities.

Evidence of Need

The global logistics market is booming, valued at $10.32 billion in 2017 and projected to reach $12.68 billion by 2023. This growth is driven by increased global trade, advancements in technology, and the rise of e-commerce. The U.S. remains a key player, ranking among the top ten logistics markets worldwide. With a growing economy and increasing demand for efficient supply chains, the need for skilled logisticians is higher than ever.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Determine the role of logistics in modern production, operations, and manufacturing
  • Define supply chain management and understand challenges involved in creating and maintaining supply chain strategies
  • Explain essential elements of the global supply chain
  • Select the best mode of transportation given product attributes and costs associated with the selected transportation mode
  • Identify the basic concepts and practices of importing and exporting goods
