Meet Jessica Alonso, a second-year student here at Oxnard College pursuing a degree in Business Administration and Economics. Jessica’s goal is to graduate and become a market research analyst or management analyst.

Jessica is maximizing her college experience by excelling in her education as well as participating in various campus organizations. Jessica is active in student life here at Oxnard College! She is an active member of the Associated Student Government (ASG), where she started off as an ambassador and worked her way up to senator, treasurer, and now serves as ASG’s vice president. From helping provide students with much-needed groceries during the pandemic to welcoming prospective students to our college and supporting our graduation ceremony, Jessica has been an active volunteer at Oxnard College. She’s even a tutor through the STEM Illumineer program.

Recognizing how challenging the pandemic was for students, Jessica took the lead on planning OC’s Condor Car Cinema last fall, which featured the film, Black Panther. “That event took so much time and planning to make it happen,” said Jessica. “I’m so proud of getting approval from both the college and district to have a safe event on campus during the pandemic.”

When asked to share three words describing her experience at OC during the pandemic, Jessica says: Busy, different, and eye-opening! “OC has helped me push myself and taught me to be more independent and take responsibility,” she said. “It has also taught me that I am capable of doing better even if it seems impossible at first.”  Jessica is growing every day at Oxnard College and plans to transfer to a four-year university next semester.
