We are excited to announce that Oxnard College will be hosting its annual Diversity & Culture Week from April 7th - 10th. This week-long celebration provides a wonderful opportunity to honor and appreciate the rich diversity in our campus and greater Oxnard community. There are many different events to choose from, including:
“Autism Awareness” on Monday, April 7th from 1pm - 2:30pm in the PAB’s Black Box Theater. This is a lunch and learn event with Dr. Edlyn Peña. Food will be provided for students.
“Books and Brunch” on Tuesday, April 8th from 10am - 11am in the OC Student Lounge. Enjoy FREE food and FREE books that are banned throughout the U.S. There will be a discussion led by Sociology Professor, Dolores Ortiz.
“Day with Pharoahs” on Tuesday, April 8th from 1pm - 2:15pm in the OC Student Lounge. Step into the world of Ancient Egypt and uncover its mysteries while enjoying FREE food from Luna Grill (while supplies last). Have a chance to win prizes, swag, books, and gifts!
“Tote Bag Painting” on Tuesday, April 8th from 4pm - 5:30pm in the OC Student Lounge. Join us and hang out with friends while painting a FREE tote bag. All materials will be provided.
OC LIVE presents “The Lioness Within” an evening with Graciela Casillas on Wednesday, April 9th at 6pm in the Performing Arts Building (PAB). Meet Oxnard’s own Graciela Casillas, an undefeated world champion who broke barriers for women in martial arts. Join us for a conversation with her after a documentary screening about her life. A special highlight to end the week will be the “Multicultural Expo” on April 10th from 12pm - 3pm in the Student Services Quad and the OC Amphitheater. This event will feature live music, performances, cultural awareness tables, interactive activities, and delicious food. We hope you attend, wear your cultural attire, and bring a friend.
