OC Foundation Scholarships and Grants Application now open for
2022-23 Academic Year
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Oxnard College Foundation maintains their mission to provide support to campus development, student scholarships, educational programs, and other college needs. As we begin the new year, the 2022 -23 scholarships & grants season has begun with our online application.
Every year, the Foundation awards thousands of dollars in scholarships and grants to Oxnard College students to help aid in their academic path. Students can apply online and will be able to access the Scholarship Manager database through their student portal:
- Click the My College tab
- Scroll down to My College Quicklinks
- Click on OC Foundation Scholarship Application
Once students log in with their "@my.vcccd.edu" email address and password, they will be able to view scholarships, begin their application based on their academic progress -- Entering students, Continuing/Returning students, Transfer students -- and view their student portal for important information.
Our students at Oxnard College are resilient and focused on their futures, which is why scholarships and grant opportunities are vital to help students achieve their goals. The OC Foundation kindly asks the Oxnard College community to help spread the word. OC Condor Connections
At Oxnard College, we care about building community and connecting students to an Oxnard College faculty or staff mentor. By participating in Condor Connections, we are committed to providing you with the following:
- A designated OC employee specifically matched to you.
- Short weekly phone calls with this mentor throughout the Spring 2022 semester.
- Resources, guidance, support, and motivation regarding personal, academic, and professional goals.
Students will be matched as appropriate based on the information we receive. While we will do our best to match all students, it is not a guarantee. 2022 Internship with PIPELINES UCSB and Ventura Naval Base
The Problem-based Initiatives for Powerful Engagement and Learning In Naval Engineering and Science (PIPELINES) is an 8-week summer internship for community college undergraduates, a collaboration between UC Santa Barbara and the Naval Base at Port Hueneme and Point Mugu.
Students work in teams at the Naval Base on real-world science/engineering design projects, under the guidance of a Navy engineer and a UCSB graduate student mentor. Once a week, students visit UCSB for training in innovation and other professional development activities.

Applicants must be US citizens and full-time students at a California
community college.
Military veterans and underrepresented students are strongly encouraged to apply.

Interns are paid $4,000 for the 8 weeks.

Quantum Foundry@UCSB 2022 Undergraduate Summer Internship
Do you know a college student who is looking for a paid summer internship in physics, chemistry or engineering?
The Quantum Foundry internship program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and hosted at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) is currently recruiting undergraduates. The program seeks to engage science and engineering undergraduate students from California Community Colleges, California State Universities, and other primarily undergraduate institutions for an 8-week summer research experience June 20-August 12, 2022.
Undergraduate interns will gain first-hand experience in quantum-related scientific investigation via a dynamic, collaborative research environment. They are matched individually with Foundry faculty and graduate student lab mentors who provide ongoing training and support. Interns also participate in professional development activities preparing them for graduate research and the workforce.
The internship webpage provides details about program benefits, student eligibility, and participating faculty. The deadline to complete the online application is February 6, 2022.
Please note that research internships are anticipated to be in-person depending on local COVID-19 restrictions. Program details are subject to change, though we expect to be able to offer a summer research experience in 2022.

2022 SCAG Scholarship Program: Applications Now Open
The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is pleased to announce that applications are available for the 2022 SCAG Scholarship Program!
The SCAG Scholarship Program offers a $4,000 scholarship award for seven high school seniors or community college students from the SCAG region (and potentially two additional scholarship awards that are not tied to a specific county but may be awarded at the Regional Council’s discretion) and the opportunity to meet with elected officials and practicing planners to learn more about careers in public service.
Program Requirements
- Residency: Must be a resident within the SCAG region (i.e., Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, or Ventura County, or on Tribal Lands within the SCAG region), and be eligible to work in the United States.
- School Enrollment: Must be a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled in a two-year community college in the SCAG region. In addition, graduating students must be able to provide proof of enrollment in higher education.
- GPA Minimum: Candidates must have at least a 3.0 Grade Point Average (based on a 4.0, unweighted scale).
- Internship Requirement and Visit to SCAG: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, award recipients will not be required to complete an internship requirement or make a visit to the SCAG office in Los Angeles to attend a Regional Council meeting.
Application Materials
- Completed online application.
- Minimum five-hundred-word essay describing your interest in urban planning, public policy, and/or public service and future career goals.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- Transcript(s) (official or copy) from the school in which you are currently enrolled.
All materials for the 2022 SCAG Scholarship Program must be submitted by Friday, April 1.

University of Delaware: NSF REU Site in Sustainable Resilient Transportation Systems - Summer 2022 Research Opportunity
The University of Delaware is currently accepting applications for a new National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) site in Sustainable Resilient Transportation Systems in Newark, DE.
We are seeking highly motivated undergraduate students from STEM disciplines to participate in a life-changing research experience. Students accepted to this competitive program will spend 10 weeks (June 6-August 12, 2022) on University of Delaware campus in Newark, DE working on convergent research aimed at reducing transportation-related emissions and, consequently, helping address climate change. Each student will be paired with a faculty mentor and engaged in hands-on research, field trips, and several professional development opportunities. Participants will receive on-campus housing, monetary compensation ($600/week), reimbursement for travel expenses (up to $500), and support for conference travel (if their summer research is accepted for presentation at a professional conference).
We are seeking applicants from all STEM fields, especially engineering, materials science, and computer science. We strongly encourage applications from populations underrepresented in STEM, including first-generation students and students with diversity of gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability, age and sexual orientation.

2022 Syracuse University LSAMP Summer Research Program

The Syracuse University Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Research Program is a paid summer research opportunity that provides undergraduate scholars with the opportunity to work with distinguished faculty and staff as well as network with others in their field of interest. Student scholars have the opportunity to conduct and present research over a ten-week period under the direction of a faculty research mentor at Syracuse University. Through this program, scholars will gain theoretical knowledge and practical training in academic research and scientific experimentation. The SU LSAMP research program was developed to aid in the retention of traditionally underrepresented groups in the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The program is funded by NSF HRD-1712733.
What are the benefits?
· $4000 research stipend.

· Have completed at least two semesters of college
· Participants may NOT take courses during the summer program

Leadership and the American Presidency (LTAP) program

Looking for a Summer 2022 internship? As part of ASGA, we invite you or your students to apply to our Leadership and the American Presidency (LTAP) program this summer! LTAP enables students to learn about the office of the presidency, work across difference, and hone their leadership skills.
LTAP is offered offered to students of all majors and all political orientations as well as freshman-graduating seniors in college.
